Cassie Mackin, a pioneer

I hope this woman will get historical justice for being a television pioneer. She is the first woman to do the political conventions of both parties in 1972. She is more known for losing out the Today show job to Jane Pauley and her subsequent loss of confidence when she moved to ABC. Likewise, her death from cancer at 42 years old. But in her short life, she had a remarkable life. From being a newspaper reporter, columnist, tvreporter and anchor in the Baltimore area then Washington DC and finally National TV. Covering DC politics. Here big fame was during the ‘72 Election in which she reported that President Nixon was not being truthful about Presidential candidate George McGovern. Very hard to find stuff about her. The University of Maryland archives has her her journals, diaries, audio recordings, textbooks and many other collections. But you need to go at certain times.  Maybe there will be a Netflix story about her, her rise, and fall. Gwyneth Paltrow?
